Joseph S. Pilot

 

Age 81, of Munhall, PA. surrounded by family, Joe passed away on Monday October 16, 2017.  Born in Rankin, PA, he was the son of the late George and Helen Pilot.   In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Michael, John, George and sister Ann.  He was also preceded in death by his infant son, John Anthony Pilot. 

Beloved husband of 38 years to Lillian (Toots) Pilot.  Loving father of Michele Pilot Thomas (Michael), John Joseph Pilot & Wendy McCaig (the late Stan).

Loving grandfather of Trevor Michael Thomas, Mia Louise Thomas, Kim Lesser & Paul Lesser.  Cherished uncle of Michael Pilot (Adrienne), Jeanne Pilot Rothenbueler (John), Steven Pilot, Kim Pilot McVaney, Margaret Pilot Patterson Chase (David), Gregory Pilot and many great nephews and nieces.  Friend of Mary Louise and Carmen Marcelli.

Joe was a graduate of Rankin High School and upon graduation, received a football scholarship to attend Clemson University where he participated and played in the Orange and Sugar bowls.  He loved all things sports related and enjoyed being a high school football, basketball and track coach, an administrator, and above all, a teacher whose career spanned over 31 years with the Homestead and Steel Valley school districts.   Joe also served in the US Army Reserves and Air National Guard.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name in memory of his son, John Anthony Pilot to the McGuire Home, 2119 Mercer Road, New Brighton, PA 15066.

A private interment service was held at All Saints Cemetery in Braddock Hills, PA       Arrangements entrusted to George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc. (412-461-6394). Munhall, PA.
