Obituary notice for William Thomas Harding – Died June 5, 2017 at age 80, in Nicholasville, Kentucky
Bill “Red” Harding was born November 18, 1936 in Homestead, Pa. His parents were Howard Harding and Dorothy Huffman Harding. He was a graduate of Homestead High School and a US Army veteran. His employment history included Westinghouse Corporation at both the Bettis and Astro-nuclear sites, United States Steel research in Monroeville, Edgewater Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh and South Carolina, Oakite Industrial Products, and Ajax Magnethermic Corporation, Nicholasville, KY.
“Red’’ was a hot rod enthusiast who listened to “Porky” on WAMO-860. He was an accomplished musician (clarinet), a voracious reader, avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, and enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Donna Farrar Harding, in 1989; and more recently by Ruth Gemeinhart Harding, 2015. Surviving relatives include David Harding, brother, and nephew, Stephen Harding, Pittsburgh; cousin Donna Harding Trognitz, Bethel Park. Other family members include four stepsons Kevin Gemeinhart, Munhall, Keith Gemeinhart (IN), Richard Gemeinhart (IN), and Ernest Gemeinhart (FL), and their wives and his grandchildren, Megan, Rose, Eric, Cally, Logan and Miles.
On Wednesday, June 28, 2017, relatives and friends will be received for visitation between 11 AM and 1 PM, followed by a memorial / celebration service at 1 PM at George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Main St., Munhall, PA. Military flag ceremony and final internment will follow at Lebanon Memorial Cemetery in West Mifflin, PA.
In lieu of sending flowers, the family suggests donations to any of the following organizations in Red’s memory.
