It is with deepest sorrow the family of Joseph Nagy announces his passing, on December 15, 2018. Joe passed, surrounded by family, after a fearless and courageous battle with cancer. Joe lived an incredible 88 years. He was born and raised in Hazelwood, and was one of thirteen. Joe was a “Hazelwood Boy”, a title for which he was incredibly proud.
Joe was a strong person both physically and mentally. He would always make his family and friends smile with his favorite jokes. With great pride, Joe served his country in the Army during the Korean War.
Joe was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and never gave up on them, win or lose. He loved sharing stories of sneaking into Forbes Field, and climbing trees in Schenley Park to watch them play.
Joe was an avid and exceptional golfer -we have the scorecards from across the country to prove it! He was also a top-notch bowler, which was where he met the love of his life, his most beautiful girl in the world, Donna McDonough. Joe and Donna married on August 25, 1972.
After marrying Donna, they moved to West Mifflin where they raised three children. The proud “Upa” of Edward (Lisa) Thomas III, Kimberly (Tony) Brown, and Dawna Thomas.
Joe was a beloved grandfather, “Poppy” to Zachary Ruffing, Nicholas (Nina) Ruffing, and Kaitlin Thomas, and a loving Great-Grandfather to Rylee Ruffing.
He leaves behind a brother, George, as well as countless nephews, nieces, neighbors, and friends.
