Adelaide J. Race

Adelaide J. Race, age 101, of Whitaker, most recently of The Arbors in Valencia, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2023 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her daughters Jane (Ron) Miller and Karen (Mike) Kulak, her grandchildren Andrew (Sarah) Miller, Meredith Kulak and Jordan Kulak, great-grandson Caleb Miller and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in by Joseph, her husband of 67 years, and her brothers Paul and Donald White.

Adelaide was born and raised in Mt. Washington.  After graduating from South Side High School, she worked as a secretary/stenographer for Clark Candies, Smithfield Methodist Church, and Bethany Baptist Church.  She was a longtime member of Whitaker United Methodist Church.  In retirement she and Joe enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach and Florida. As a family she enjoyed camping from Canada to Myrtle Beach in our Apache pop up tent trailer. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, reading, and doing the daily crossword.  In 2021, she celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends.  

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 9 AM-10 AM at the Whitaker United Methodist Church, where a Funeral Service will take place at 10 AM followed by a graveside service at Jefferson Memorial Park.
