Bernadette Cecelia Armocida passed away peacefully on April 19, 2023, in the loving care of her family. She lived 84 years as a lifelong resident of the Pittsburgh region. She was born in Glassport, PA on December 19,1938, the youngest of 10 children.
While attending Avalon High School, Bernadette's outstanding soprano voice made her a top member of the Senior Choir. Putting her talents to good use, she sang with the "Starlets on Parade", featured on KDKA Radio. She also performed in various musical productions throughout the PIttsburgh area. She enjoyed singing with her many co-stars, including her long-standing friend, Terrie Angelelli Beatty. Bernadette was also an accomplished pianist.
After a brief career in business, Bernadette married and became the loving mother to her four children. She cherished motherhood and served as an inspiration and example to them throughout adulthood.
Bernadette then began a second career in banking, retiring from National City Corporation when she was 65 years old. Throughout that time, she was an avid reader, a dedicated gardener, and a patron of the arts, especially attending the symphony. In addition, Bernadette was a proud Pittsburgh sports fan; one could never catch her without a Terrible Towel or a Stanley Cup pennant flag in tow while she cheered on her beloved black and gold!
Most of all, Bernadette or ‘Gram’ as she was fondly known to them, loved spending her free time doting on her seven grandchildren and great-grandchild. She attended many graduations, games, recitals and plays, never missing a special moment in their lives.
Bernadette is survived by her children and their spouses, Glenn A. Armocida (Virginia), Cynthia Easthom (Karl), Valerie A. Brenton (David), Nicole Armocida (Jeanette), her grandchildren, August, Camille, and Christian Armocida, Allyson and Jessica Gass, Natalee and Greta Easthom, and her great-grandchild, Marceline Armocida.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Lewandowska and her father, Joseph Pecyna as well as her many brothers and sisters.
