Charles R. Bernabo 90 on September 17, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with the scourge of leukemia. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Loretta (Bennett) who was his care giver during this period of time, also a son Roger (Laurel) and a daughter Gail (Edward) Schneider, cherished grandfather of Kaleen, Philip and Keith also great granddaughters Ashlynd Jade, and McKenzie Loretta. Charles was one of ten children raised on a dairy farm in Bolivar, Pa. Serving in the U.S. Navy in WWII along with his four brothers. He moved to Pittsburgh after the war and worked in the State Liquor stores in Southside, Hazelwood and Squirrel Hill during his 25 years career. He loved nature and always had a garden. He did numerous charity works for St. Rosalia’s and Holy Angels Catholic Church where he was a faithful member of the Holy Name Society. He and Loretta moved to Texas 12 years ago to be closer to their children. Friends received on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc. 3511 Main St. Munhall 412-461-6394 Mass of Christian Burial will be in Holy Angels R.C. Church on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. In leiu of flowers the family asks donations be made to, Bolivar Vol. Fire Co. P.O. Box 3, Bolivar, Pa. 15923.
