In Loving Memory of Daniel G. "Whitey" Manning

A Life Dedicated to Family, Friendship, and Community

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Daniel G. Manning, fondly known as "Whitey," on January 5th, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on August 20, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Whitey was the beloved son of the late Fred and Ann (Dymkowski) Manning. He was a cherished brother to the late Eugene (Karen) Manning, Joan (Pete) Preston, Janice Manning, Marlene Hooper, Dale (surviving spouse Mary) Manning, and Lindsay Manning. Throughout his life, Whitey was admired for his warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty to family and friends.

Family was the cornerstone of his life. He shared a remarkable 58-year marriage with his adored wife, Linda A. Manning, who passed away on July 5, 2018. Their strong and loving partnership was a source of comfort and inspiration, and it brings peace to know that they are reunited. Together, they raised two devoted sons, Dan (Michelle) Manning and Rick (Tina) Manning, and built a close family that includes grandchildren Amber Manning, Angelina (Matthew) Prezioso, Lia Manning, Danielle Manning, and Georgia Manning, as well as his treasured great-granddaughter Hazel Prezioso. The special bonds he nurtured with each family member will be remembered always.

Whitey was a fixture in his community, spending many years playing and coaching softball, and generously volunteering his time at the WPPAL Boxing gym on 3rd Avenue. As a proud union carpenter, he was well-respected for his craftsmanship and his entrepreneurial spirit—always willing to try his hand at selling anything he believed in.

Some of Whitey’s happiest moments were at sporting events, cheering on his granddaughters as they played soccer. Above all, he cherished family gatherings and the simple joy of being surrounded by loved ones. Whitey’s devotion as a father was unmatched; he was the dad everyone hoped for, and his gentle guidance, laughter, and love left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Daniel “Whitey” Manning will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing to all whose lives he touched.

Family and friends are welcomed to a Mass of Christian Burial in Whitey’s honor at 10 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in St. Thomas the Apostle Parish: St. Therese RC Church Worship Site, 1 St. Therese Ct, Munhall.
