Dorothy Mae (Erlewein Eli) Cribbs, 74, of Greenfield passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025. She was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Booth) Erlewein. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Harris, and her brother, Billy Erlewein.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Cyndi Brown (Alex) and her son Shawn Cribbs ( Jayda). She was a proud and devoted granny to Alyssa, Kaitlin, Aeva, Shawn, Chez, Patrick, Megan and Rylee and was excited to become a great granny this winter. She is also survived by her siblings, Donna Killmeyer, Debbie Nepereny, and John Erlewein and by James Harris and Michelle Syska who held a special place in her heart. She was a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.
She spent most of her career with AT&T, working primarily as an international operator. After retirement, she joined Walmart—not for the paycheck, but to keep busy and enjoy conversations with people from all walks of life.
She found joy in the simple beauty of nature, especially trees, and loved feeding the squirrels and birds in her yard. Her dog Sophie and her cats Simba and Sunshine were constant companions. An avid reader, Dorothy had a particular love for science fiction. Her musical tastes were as wide-ranging as her personality—everything from Ozzy Osbourne to John Coltrane to Rachmaninoff could be found on her playlists.
Above all, Dorothy loved being involved in the lives of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, supporting them in every way she could. Known for her warmth, humor, and ability to turn strangers into friends, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Friends and family are encouraged to honor her memory in their own way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children, Toys for Tots, St. Joseph’s Indian School or The Nature Conservancy, all organizations she supported regularly.
She left this final message to her family, “No argune! Be kind, be there for each other. Remember the good times and the songs. When you think about me, shake your head and laugh! Bye love ya, love ya bye!”
Arrangements are private and have been entrusted to the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc. in Munhall (412-461-6394). Please leave your memories and condolences at www.georgeigreenfuneralhome.com.
