Dorothy Latzy

Dorothy Latzy, age 94, went home to the Lord on January 4, 2024. Born in Homestead to  parents, the late Frank and Anna (Lucas) Luteran, she is pre-deceased by cherished husband John Latzy. Beloved mother of five: Karen Latzy, David (Ginny) Latzy, Kenneth (Patricia) Latzy, Kristine Latzy, and John (Kim Latzy). Grandmother of Rebecca (Neal) Luther, Kimberly Latzy, Sarah (Colin) Aherne, Meghan (Kevin) Berridge, Gabrielle, & Cole Latzy. Great-grandmother to Alex Luther, Clare, Addy, & Elliot Aherne, and Nathan Berridge. Sister of the late Raymond (loving sister-in-law Louise survives) Luteran, and sister-in-law to Bernard Latzy. Best friend to Norma Dzubak and special cousin Florence “Flossie” Malutinok. She is also survived by many nieces and cousins. Dorothy was a family-woman first and foremost as she was a homemaker most of her life, but she also was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael’s R.C. Church where she was a member of their Christian Mother’s group. Dorothy was the proud secretary of 1^st Catholic Slovak Ladies Association Branch 11 Junior Lodge. She also loved her Pittsburgh sports, doing crossword puzzles, and knitting, which she devoted much of her time to since retiring from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. The family would like to thank UPMC Family Hospice and the staff of Kane Nursing Home in Glenhazel for their kindness and support in Dorothy’s hour of need.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 8, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall 15120, ((412)461-6394). A mass of Christian Burial will take place the following morning, Tuesday, January 9, at 10 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle: St. Maximillian Kolbe R.C. Church worship site, with Father Dan D’Antonio officiating. Burial is to follow.
