Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved cars, skiing and walking on the beach at Singer Island and Wrightsville Beach.  He traveled all over the world with his children and first wife, Lillian, from Russia, China, Japan, Africa, Hawaii and Scandinavia.  His main love was cars. He could tell details about cars from the beginning of the motor cars to the present.

He especially enjoyed the adventures of the Rolls-Royce Owners Club and the places of the annual meeting held around the country from coast to coast.

In Williamsburg 2008, our 1991 Silver Spur II won first place out of 40 cars in that group of the Touring Class in the 57th annual Rolls Royce Owners Club meet.  Moving to Southern Pines two years ago to a house he thought to be the most beautiful house he was ever in.

His favorite song was "Summit Ridge Drive" by Artie Shaw; his favorite quote was "Benny Goodman played notes, Artie Shaw played Music!!" His daily quote was "War is the dumbest thing we do"
