Edward J. Giles, Jr.

Edward J. Giles, age 99, of West Mifflin, passed away on August 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born in McKeesport on October 13, 1923 , son of the late Edward J. Giles and Catherine (Whitney) Giles, brother of Thomas Giles, Catherine Giles of Ohio, and the late Jo Anne Keenan James &  Jerome, Raymond, William, and Richard Giles. Edward was the treasured husband of the late Audrey (Colbert) Giles. Father of Edward J. Giles III of Greenfield, Christopher (Patty) Giles of McKeesport, Patrick R. Giles of West Mifflin, Susan Giles of West Mifflin, Terrance (Cathy) Giles of Canonsburg, Audrey Giles of Whitaker, Vicky (Paul) Potopenko of Munhall, James Giles of West Mifflin, and the late Mary Jo Witkowski. Edward was the beloved grandfather of Edward J. (Emily) Giles IV, Heather Giles, Chris (Tina) Giles, Kelly Giles, Nicki Giles, TJ (Cara Lee) Revers, Rick Burgy, Robbie (Carin) Burgy, Sarah (Dave) Obradovich, Taylor (Nikki) Giles, April Giles, Ray (Jamie) Witkowski Jr., Todd Zaluski, Tara (James) Brocato, Paul (Andi) Potopenko Jr., Justin (Casey) Potopenko, Katey Potopenko, Lauren Giles, and Bella (Bo) Taylor. Cherished great-grandfather of Simon, Reyes, Bailey, Raven, Ashlyn, Chelsea, Jayden, Linwood, Colton, Lucas, Aliya, Vivi, Lucas, Ray, Landon, Arabella, Max, Dom, Jack, McKenzie, Derrick and Bowen; great-great-grandfather to Carter; master to his beloved pup, Bonnie. Edward will be deeply missed by all whom knew him, especially his family.

Edward was a proud veteran of World War II and an electrician at Irvin Works USS. He was also a member of Holy Angels Parish, and like any good, life-long, Pittsburgh resident, Edward loved his Steelers.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 25, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, 3511 Main Street, Munhall, 15120, ((412)461-6394). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following morning, Saturday, August 26, at 10:30 am at Blessed Trinity Parish: Holy Angels worship site, Hays, PA with Father Bob Ahlin officiating.
