Edward E. "Beanie" Hess

The Heart of Hays has passed away..

Born and raised in the small town of Hays, Pennsylvania, Edward (Beanie) Hess dedicated his life to caring for others. After serving with honor in the United States Navy, he returned home to continue a life of service. Whether he was responding to emergencies as an EMT for Baldwin, working the halls of Jefferson Hospital, or caring for patients in their final moments alongside his beloved wife, Beverly. More than just a caregiver, he was an adventurer ensuring that everyone, experienced the joy of a life well-lived. His home and heart were always open to creatures great and small-most notably evidenced by the time he spent raising baby lions. 

Above all, Beanie was a man of deep devotion. He often remarked that the best thing he ever did was marry his wife Beverly (Felix) Hess of 61 years. He was a pillar for his son Eric (Amy) Hess, grandchildren Hayley George and Rosie Festa, great-grandchildren Aiden George, Leighton, Deklan and Cooper Manny, Isabella Harding, and L.J. Festa as well as his many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents Russell and Adeline (Bullock) Hess, and siblings Clara Louise Russman, Tom (Karen) Hess and Robert (Audrey) Hess.

Guided by his faith in the Blessed Mother and Jesus, Beanie lived with a level of kindness that felt "unbelievable" to those who met him. He was a man who took care of everyone, and was sure to make everyone laugh with his jokes until the very end.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 11AM till time of Memorial Service at 2:00PM at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120.
