Edward W. Hyzak

September 5, 1929 — March 19, 2024

Edward William Hyzak, known to many as Ed or Edge, peacefully passed away on March 19th, 2024, in Pittsburgh, PA at the age of 94. He was born September 5, 1929 in West Homestead, PA and was a beloved member of the Community. 

Ed was a dedicated steel worker for US Steel National Tube in McKeesport, PA, where he devoted his time and efforts throughout his career. Outside of his work, he found joy in gardening, fishing and hunting, pursuing these hobbies with passion and skill. 

A man of unwavering kindness and love, Ed, was a cherished by all who knew him. He exemplified unconditional acceptance and support, serving as a role model to his family and friends. His impact will be felt for generations to come. 

Ed was a devoted family man. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, including his nephew Daniel (Sandra) Hyzak and their children, grandnieces Beth, Lora and Katherine, and their children Anjali and RJ. Also, nephew Ed (Debi) Oleksiak; niece Fran (Scott) Dougherty and their children, grandnieces and grandnephew Colleen, Sean, and Kelly; niece Susan (David) Mittelberg and their two children, grandniece and grandnephew Amanda and Damien; as well as other relatives and numerous nieces and nephews: grandniece  Ruth (John) Crothers, grandnephew Charles (Donna) Greiner IV, grandnephew David (Cathy) Greiner, and grandniece Elizabeth (gary) Sosanko and all their children and grandchildren. Ed was survived by his longtime companion Thelma Ferko and adopted family member Tim Walsh. Ed is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary (Topolansky) Hyzak, his brothers Alex and Stanley; and his sisters Mary (Konieczki-Graziano), and Josephine (Oleksiak).

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Ed's life will be held at Saint Therese Roman Catholic Church in Munhall on Friday, March 22nd at 10:00 AM, 1 St. Therese Ct, Munhall, following a visitation at Green Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM, 3511 Main Street, Munhall, 15120, (412)461-6394. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ed's memory can be made to Appalachia Work Camp. with checks mailed to 2363 W 11th Avenue Ext. Homestead, PA 15120. The Green Funeral Home in Munhall, PA is assisting the family with Funeral arrangements. Ed's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
