Edward Vohar passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. Born on August 6, 1929, in Munhall Gardens, Edward lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering willingness to help others.
Edward was a Korean War Airforce veteran, serving as a radar man stationed in New Jersey. His commitment to his country exemplified the sense of duty that permeated every aspect of his life. Following his military service, Edward embarked on a career as a steel worker for J&L Steel, contributing to an industry foundational to his hometown. He later applied his talents in the insurance sector, demonstrating versatility and a strong work ethic throughout his professional journey.
Beyond his career, Edward was known and beloved as a true “Mr. Fix-it.” Well into his seventies, he graciously mowed lawns and repaired roofs for neighbors and friends, always ready to lend a helping hand. His dependability and generosity made him a pillar of his community, someone everyone could count on in times of need.
Edward’s heart was full of music and dance, passions he shared with his beloved wife, Marleen. The couple met at West View Park and bonded over their love of dancing. They delighted in jitterbugging to big band music at weddings, sustaining this cherished tradition even in their later years—a beautiful testament to their lifelong connection and joyous spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marleen; his children, Jerry (Evelyn) Schaub and Sandra (Bernie) Krivansky; as well as five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and one great-great-granddaughter. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Anna Vohar and sister, Mary (George) Piposar.
A service to honor Edward's memory will be held on May 22, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Jefferson Memorial Park, in the Mausoleum Chapel, located at 401 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. PLEASE MEET AT THE MAUSOLEUM.
