Eleanor S. Buran

April 28, 1936 — December 14, 2023

Daughter of the late Charles R. Smith and Eleanor Williams Smith. Loving wife of the late Paul G. Buran for 64 years and Paul’s sweetheart for over 70 years. She was the adoring mother of Betsy (Elizabeth Ann) Busche and Bentley Buran. And proud grandmother of Ariel Elizabeth Busche.
Eleanor was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and an Elementary School teacher for 30 years, touching the lives of so many children.
In retirement she enjoyed volunteer work along with her husband, Paul. And both enjoyed their work as Ambassadors at the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Eleanor loved the beauty of nature and “all creatures great and small”, as well as music, the theatre and traveling. She and Paul traveled extensively throughout the United States, but they were most content and happy at the seashore.
Her family, home, pets, and friends (especially her pets) were the most important and precious aspects of her life – and filled her with the joy of living. The devotion and love of family and pets made “her life on earth a preview to heaven”.
She will live forever in our hearts and will be greatly missed.
