Elizabeth Ruth Nixon

November 26, 1966 — December 16, 2025

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Elizabeth “Beth” R. Nixon on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with her close family and friends by her side.

Born on November 26, 1966, in Dayton, Ohio but raised in Hazelwood, Pennsylvania and being the traveler she was jumping around the area until ultimately ending up in Munhall, Pennsylvania , she was a worldly woman loved by all and outfits envied by many.

She is preceded in death by her beloved mother Diane Margaret (Dickson) Nixon, father John Nixon and grandparents Mary Jane and Raymond Dickson. She is survived by her loving sister, Mary Jane “Jaynie” Nixon, her devoted daughters Diane Marie (Higgs) Sarver, Shelby Elizabeth O’Grosky and cats Frederick Lamar Nixon, Ickabob Martin Jones and Opaling Ling Her life will continue to be celebrated by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and other extended family.

Beth’s passion for helping others was evident in her work of being an in-home healthcare aid and bartending/serving on the fly at various bars, stadiums and the Hilton. During her life She was patient, caring to a fault and had a big heart felt by all who encountered her. To know Beth was to know kindness and to feel welcomed. She was a devoted mother, cousin, niece, daughter and friend. Whether it be organizing a party or just showing up, Beth would spend her last bit of energy or penny to make someone else feel loved.

It would behoove us to not touch back on her love of travel and being a natty dresser. Beth traveled not only to see cousins centrally located in California and Mexico, but to states far and wide to just experience what the world has to offer. While doing so she was known to be an over packer, because who else but her would anticipate the need of two different glamourous outfits for each and every day. Although, her most adorned accessory was cat hairs sparkling across her wardrobe. While thinking of Beth try to remember her with not one but 70 different hairstyles and outfits (Whether they be wigs, costumes, an adidas track suit, moomoo or sparkly dress).

Beth’s compassion and dedication to be a helper of all and to all things Irish extended well into her personal life as she was a lifelong volunteer at the Pittsburgh's Irish festival. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her knew that she was an Irish queen at heart. Anyone who crossed her could read her tattoo and move forward accordingly. She may have had a heart of gold but an attitude of an old whiskey loving Irishman.

She had a lifelong love affair with coffee. Never a dull moment with her as she enjoyed a cup of coffee with her very best friend Tracy Scholl every morning and many relatives when she went to visit them.

Beth was true to herself and never faltered. She was adored by many; she loved strongly and fiercely without regret; she had an infectious laugh and was full of so much spunk. May her love for life and strength live on through us all. She will be dearly missed by each of us.
