Ernest Gorzynski

May 13, 1938 — March 13, 2026

St. Cloud, FL

Ernest "Ernie" Gorzynski, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, in St. Cloud, Florida. Ernie lived a life filled with service, music, and devotion to his family.

Born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania to the late Francis Zygmunt Gorzynski and Rose Gerovac Gorzynski, he was lovingly raised from the age of four by his stepmother the late Conjeta Ann Sambuco Gorzynski. He grew up in Pennsylvania alongside his siblings and attended Turtle Creek High School. Following high school, he pursued theological studies with the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers in New York. Although he left the order before taking vows due to a serious injury, this experience left a lasting impression on his life.

In the early 1960s, Ernie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. During his military service, he was stationed in Cuba and Iceland and trained at Camp LeJeune. As a frogman and expert sharpshooter, Ernie exemplified dedication and skill throughout his time in the Marines.

After completing his military service, Ernie married and had two children to his first wife Donna George. Following their divorce, he earned a degree in hospitality management from Penn State University. This accomplishment led him to relocate to Kissimmee, Florida, where he built a career in the hospitality industry while embracing the warmth of Florida living.

Music was one of Ernie's greatest passions. A talented singer with a love for harmony and performance, he was an active member of a barbershop quartet for many years. Even after stepping away from formal groups, Ernie continued to share his voice through karaoke performances that brought joy to those around him.

He is survived by his son Francis Gorzynski, his wife Amy and their children Tyler (Ashlee), Isaac, Christian, Nathaniel, and Isabella; and great-grandson Trenton; his daughter Dorothy Gorzynski Kraft and her children Nina, Brenna, and Brandt and great-grandchildren Jacob, Nolan, and Emilie; and his stepdaughter Carla Moon. Additionally, Ernie leaves behind his brothers Albert (Bella) Gorzynski and Leonard Gorzynski; sisters Therese Boyd and Susan Hamet; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a community of friends who cherished him deeply.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his second-wife Peggy Brown Gorzynski; sisters Dorothy "Dolly" Gorzynski and Martha "Cookie" Smeltz; and sister-in-law Ann Louise Rendulic Gorzynski. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Ernie’s legacy is one of resilience, kindness, humor, and song—a man who found joy in sharing music with others while dedicating himself to those he loved most. His memory will live on through the voices of those who knew him best.

May Ernie’s memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him. A Visitation will be held on March 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Geroge Irvin Green Funeral Homes 3511 Main St., Munhall, PA.
