Evelyn was born on Oct. 22, 1933 in Monessen, PA the daughter of the late Nicholas and Susan (Crynick) Sowko where she was a resident for 59 years;
She was a member of The First Catholic Slovak Union Branch #315, the Monessen Investment Club, A.V. Investment Club and a devoted member of Resurrection Church and the church Marian Guild.
Evelyn was employed by Mellon Bank for over 20 years;
Beloved wife of Frank D. Novotny of West Mifflin;
Beloved mother of Michael (Karen) Kovach of Danville, PA., Paul Kovach, of Cumming, GA. and the late Lt.Col.(Ret) Thomas R. Kovach. Mother in law of Mary Kovach of Spotsylvania, VA.
Cherished step mother of Dr. JoyAnn (David Steel) of Charlottsville, VA. , Dr. Diane Lancaster, of Hull MA., and Charlotte (Thomas) Casey  of Middletown, DE.
Loving grandmother of Sgt.Jeffrey Kovach, Alicia and Madison Kovach;
Special step grandmother of Russell and Stephen Kovach;
Sister of Irene (Charles) Resetar of Monessen, PA. and Nicholas (Barbara) Sowko  of Glassport, PA.
Sister in Law of Helen Sowko of Clairton, PA.
Many nieces and nephews;
Preceded in death by her first husband Thomas R. Kovach, son Thomas and brother Theodore;
Friends received Monday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main St. Munhall 15120 (412-461-6394).  Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday at 9:30 AM in Resurrection R.C. Church, West Mifflin. Interment in Holy Name Cemetery in Monessen, PA.
