James Bell

Obituary Image

James Kirk Bell, son of Thomas Bell and Martha (Scolon) Bell, loving husband of the late Elizabeth Grace Bell and loving and much-loved father of James R. Bell ( and Dana Earl), Thomas Alan Bell and Jeffrey Scott (and Lori) Bell. Loving and loved grandfather of Adrienne Bell (and Christopher Botens), Tabatha Williams, Alicia Lueke and Jimmy Bell, and great grandchildren Christopher Matthew and Ashleigh Grace Botens and Olivia Jeremy.

An immigrant to this country from “The Whifflet,” Coatbridge, Scotland, Jim Bell achieved the American dream. He met and fell in love with a caring, beautiful woman from Elizabeth, PA whom he married and had three much-loved sons with. Jim served this country on the front lines in Korea and worked for US Steel in Homestead while attentively and thoughtfully raising his family, always there for us with whatever we needed, whenever we needed it. He also loved God, the sea, good food, traveling to new places, so many poems he learned in his youth and most of all, music from every genre. Many conversations with him triggered a song from “the old country,” the big band era, the Beatles, the Methodist hymnal, or a cowboy lament, classical theme or pop ditty from any era- all of which he could and would often provide a full-throated version of!

Jim cherished his large family of 8 brothers and sisters in Scotland- Willie, Edward, Robert, Tom, Alec, Annie, Ettie and Lila, as well as his in-laws, nieces, and nephews in the US, Canada, Scotland and England. The family and friends he leaves behind will greatly miss him and never forget his infectious humor, hard-won wisdom and unconditional love.

Friends received on Thursday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M. at George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc. 3511Main St. Munhall. Memorial Service will be in Anne Ashley United Methodist Church 334 22nd Avenue, Munhall on Friday at 1:00 P.M. Please share your memories and condolences at georgeigreenfuneralhome.com.
