James Robert Francis McCarthy

James “Jim” Robert Francis McCarthy, 86, of Middleburg, Virginia passed away August 22, 2025 at Winchester Medical Center.

Born January 24, 1939 in Munhall, PA, he was the son of the late John and Verne McComisky McCarthy.

He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church of St. James the Greater in Charles Town, WV.

Jim was a graduate of Munhall High School, Class of 1956 and earned his Bachelors from the University of Pittsburgh, Class of 1960. He was an educator for over thirty years in the Lakeland, NY school district. He was very active in the Catholic Church. When Jim and Patty retired they traveled extensively and spent time with their grandchildren, whom they adored.

He is survived by one daughter, Kelly Loussedes and husband, Paul of Middleburg, VA, two sons, Ryan McCarthy and wife, Nicole of Fairfax, VA, Kevin McCarthy and wife, Betsy of Leonardtown, MD, eight grandchildren, Madison and Liam McCarthy, Katie and Megan St.Laurent, Hayden, Madelyn and Emerson Loussedes, and Avary McCarthy, one sister, Margaret Cassidy Burke, brother-in-law, Charles O’Hare and wife, Mary Kay, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Patricia Ann in March 2013 and his favorite dog, Chloe in October 2024.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 29, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV. 

Family and friends will be recieved at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120, on Saturday, August 30, from 9-11 AM.
