Jess G. Morrison

Jess G. Morrison (age 97), of Munhall, peacefully entered into glory on April 23, 2024, surrounded by his family.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Joan Cartmel Morrison.  

Jess is survived by his four children:  Linda (Kevin) Lordon, Thomas (Michele) Morrison, Jill (Wendy) Morrison, Dawn (Ray) Ross.  He loved his amazing grandchildren:  Natalie (Greg) Haley, Derek (Randi) Morrison, Jared (Brenda) Lordon, Ben Lordon, Ian (Tash) Lordon, Kelsey (Dakota) Townsend, Jake Ross, and Jessa Ross.  He was blessed to have special time with two great-grandchildren:  Lucy and Kevin Lordon.

Jess was born in Homestead on May 18, 1926, to Thomas and Olive Morrison.  He was the  brother of Thomas Morrison who was killed in action during WWII.  He exceled at basketball at Munhall High School.  He worked for U.S. Steel for 30+ years in the Open Hearth.  He was a lifeguard for many years at the Carnegie Library of Homestead and was an avid runner.  Jess served his community as a volunteer fireman at Munhall #4.  He was a lifetime member of the Thompson Run Athletic Association where he spent many afternoons with friends solving the world’s problems.   He and his wife played a significant role in a homeless lunch program at their local church.   Their efforts provided over 100 lunches weekly to people in the Pittsburgh region.   Another favorite pastime of his was spending time with Joan at the Meadows Casino.  He donated regularly to that cause.  He loved spending time with and telling stories of days gone by to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Our family rejoices and finds hope and love in his everlasting life with the Lord.
