Joseph S. Opyrchal, Jr.

Joseph S Opyrchal Jr, 72, of Munhall PA, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 after a tough battle with Cancer. Born on January 27, 1953 he was a devoted husband of 49 years to Suzanne (Cholewinski) Opyrchal and loving father of Valerie Hartz and Jessica (Jessie Turnbull) Opyrchal. Proud Pappy to Oliver Opyrchal, Alice Opyrchal, and Damien Hartz. Brother of Victoria Kanczes and Charles (Terri) Opyrchal. Favorite brother-in-law to Phyllis Kaminski. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Alice Opyrchal.

Joe worked over 30 years as a warehouseman at Three Rivers Supply in Homestead and was the president of the Thomson Run Athletic Association Club for several years. Joe’s favorite place was Bedford PA, where he made lifelong friends.

For 49 years Joe and Sue shared a love that everyone could see and was an example to their kids and grandkids on what love should look like.

Joe was the best husband, dad, and pap anyone could ask for. He always showed up…always. Even when he was not feeling his best, he would drive anywhere to watch his grandkids play basketball, football, and cheer. They were always happy to see their Pappy.

Family and friends received Sunday, September 7, from 1-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall 15120, 412-461-6394. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following morning, Monday, September 8, 10 AM, at St Thomas the Apostle; St Therese RC Church Worship Site, Munhall, with Fr. Jim Bachner officiating.
