Katherine Wolen

On October 27, 2021, age 93 of West Mifflin, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.  Kate was born in McMechen, West Virginia the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Pukach) Kurelac

Beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Wolen.  Loving mother of Joseph Wolen, Michael Wolen and Katherine (Craig) Graham.  Cherished grandmother of Jesse Graham, Hunter Graham, Craig Graham, Jr and Emilyn Laughlin – Wolen.  Also many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sisters Madeline Rockaway, Julie Schoeppner, Mary Pabin, Ann Cwynar, Rose Mary Heath brother Peter Kurelac and nieces Cindy Cwynar – Bittengle and Patricia Kurelac.

After her retirement from Continental Can Co. as a Metal Slitter operator she got involved with a penny candy store and rental properties.  She had a love for horses and all farm animals and she made a lot of children happy with her horses and ponies.   Kate was loved by many friends and family not only for her kindness and personality but for her stubbornness and feistiness.

Family and friends received on Monday Nov. 1, 2021 from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8Pm at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main St. Munhall, 15120.  Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday Nov. 2, 2021 at 10:00AM in Holy Angels Church, Hays of Blessed Holy Trinity Parish.
