Laura Ward Forsyth

Laura passed away quietly at Arrowood Assisted Living in Pleasant Hills, PA on Wednesday, May 15, 2025, at age 98. She was born on August 10, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA, one of 6 children of Bessie and Charles Ward of Oakmont.

She graduated from Oakmont High School. While she had many jobs, she retired in 2008 from the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon after 23 years…loving the people! and the work every minute.

Laura was an active member of Anne Ashley Community Church in Munhall for many years. She is predeceased by her husband, Alvin M. Forsyth, II; daughter, Meredith T. Cushman, her five siblings: Geraldine Monk, Norma Conti, Lois Treese, Charlotte Burd, and Robert Ward; and nephew, Jeff Conti. She is survived by her eldest daughter, Judith A. Thurber, five stepchildren: Bethia Nier, A. Murray Forsyth III, Charles Forsyth, Ann Travis Sherman, John Donalson Forsyth; several beloved grandchildren, especially Heather Forster; several great grandchildren; as well as being a very grateful aunt to her several nieces and nephews. Her life was enhanced richly by very special, helpful friends from Anne Ashley and near neighbors, Lois Sloan and Andre and Lori Marinescu.

Laura much enjoyed her bird feeders and secluded backyard, but her lifelong passion revolved around driving in amateur sportscar races, enjoying trips to various NE race courses.

Family and friends will be welcomed Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 11:30-1 PM with service at 1 PM officiated by Pastor Keith Kaufold at George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall, 15120. (412-461-6394.)
