Laura Piazza

September 23, 1925 — May 11, 2026

Laura (Antonetti) Piazza, 100, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, after a brief illness.

Laura was born on September 23, 1925, in Boston, Massachusetts. She spent her adolescence in Boston and New York, before moving with her family to California. After meeting the love of her life, Leonard C. Piazza, they married and eventually settled in Pittsburgh. Here, she supported Leonard during dental school. The two then spent decades working together at Leonard's dental practice, becoming fixtures in Homestead.

As a proud first-generation Italian American, she passed down this culture by always sharing family stories with her grandchildren. Whether through Italian words and phrases, sharing foods like chicken cutlets, hot pepper sandwiches, meatballs, or broccoli rabe, or asking her daughter to pick up Italian meats from local delis, Laura's greatest joys were to instill Italian pride in her family.

Within her community, Laura was a beacon of positivity and joy. Known for her pool parties, she would regularly invite her closest family, friends, and neighbors to her home. She always enjoyed talking to lifelong friends Betty Hess and Ginger Haupt, loved inviting supportive friend and neighbor, Jackie Zupetic, into her home, and was always the first to share homemade meals with neighbor Ronnie Gensler.

Laura was a voracious reader of mystery novels. She was an avid puzzler, with a work-in-progress puzzle always displayed on her dining room table. Yet, above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She may have been the tiniest person in the room, but she was always the brightest and loudest and will be dearly missed.

Laura is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Leonard C. Piazza, in 2017. She is survived by her loving children Christopher (Wendi) Piazza and Claudia (Hudson) Stoner. She was the cherished grandmother of Andrew (Jennifer) Piazza, Emma Piazza, Hudson (Jessie) Stoner, and her “buddy” Grant Stoner, and great-grandmother of Peter and Claire Piazza. Devoted sister to Viola “Tootsie” Knors, and late siblings Marianne Lupo and Richard Antonetti.
