Mary Ann Brethold, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the age of 76. Born on May 21, 1949, in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, Mary Ann dedicated over 30 years of her life as a Patient Business Service Representative at UPMC Children's Hospital, exemplifying her commitment to serving her community with compassion and care.

Mary Ann was a family-oriented person who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She took great pleasure in being a devoted mother to her children, Kristine "Krissy" (Brian Kampert) Brethold, David Brethold, and Timothy (Lindsay) Brethold, and a proud grandmother to her grandson, Brody Brethold. Her loving spirit will be profoundly missed not only by her children and grandson but also by her extended family, including sister-in-law Cathy Brethold, nieces Sara Brethold, Megan (Tom) Corella, Sofia Corella, and great niece Anna Corella.

In addition to her family, Mary Ann had a wide circle of treasured friends, including Patty and Jack Evan, Bob and Sue Stein, Enda Mae McDaniel, and Dave and Charlotte Aber. She enjoyed spending her leisure time engaged in hobbies like sewing and delighting in moments shared with her dogs, which brought her much joy and comfort.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry L. Brethold, who was a significant part of her life. She also mourned the loss of her parents, John and Elizabeth (Papp) Kascak Sr., and her brothers, John Kascak Jr., James Kascak, and Stephen "Ike" Kascak, along with brother-in-law Henry Brethold.

Mary Ann's funeral arrangements are private and entrusted to the George Irivn Green Funeral Home, Inc.
