Maureen Burke, 68, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 25, 2026, in her home surrounded by family and furry grand-pets. While she courageously battled breast cancer, her life will be one of devotion to putting others first, unwavering faith in God, and a strong assertion that everything is made better surrounded by family and friends, Led Zeppelin on the radio, and a big serving of her sister Susie’s stuffed cabbage.
Born on July 7, 1957, in Homestead, PA to the late Donald and Iris McQuade, the third oldest of six children. Throughout her life, her siblings were the best friends she could ever ask for. Always providing a laugh or a shoulder to lean on, no McQuade gathering ended without an impromptu singing of Hey Jude -- always led by her late brother Bobby and sister Judy.
After graduating from Steel Valley High School, she met and married her husband James in 1984 and began their life in Munhall, PA. She spent nearly 10 years working at Noah’s Ark Child Care Center where she took great pride in being able to help kids.
Maureen could always be found sitting outside in the sun with a horror book in hand with her beloved cat, Bri, laying at her feet.
She leaves behind her husband James, children Jason, Christopher (Lindsay), Sean (Ann), and Jaclyn (Dominick), and granddaughter Jaylynn, and grand-dogs Bruce, Enzo, Benny, and Murphy.
