Melissa L. Barnes

Melissa Barnes, age 40, of West Homestead passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 after a long courageous battle with Lupus, which she fought so bravely for 22 years. She was the strongest person I know.

Beloved daughter of Thomas R. and Melanie (Joyce) Torkowsky and the late Lucinda (Barone) Torkowsky. Devoted mother of Taylor Yothers; Loving girlfriend of Jesse David Afanasieff and his son Shane Dixon; Dear sister of William Barnes; and step-sister of Brooke (Darrell) Delgado; also survived by cousins, Charles (Aimee) Lippert and "the girls" Natalie and Alaina, of whom she adored. She also leaves behind her loving dog Brutis.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents; Robert and Ann (Vandergraft) Barone and Irene and Thomas Torkowsky.

Melissa was born in Pittsburgh. She graduated from Steel Valley High School. She enjoyed shopping and going to Kennywood. She will always be loved and missed.

Family and friends received on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 7-9 PM & Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall, PA 15120 (412.461.6394). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM in St. Therese Church, St. Thomas the Apostles Parish.
