Michael J. Hornyak on April 30, 2022, age 92 of West Homestead, Mike passed away surounded by his loving family. He was born in Homestead to the late Michael and Anna (Kovacs) Hornyak.
Beloved husband of 67 years to Margaret "Peggy" (Jantek) Hornyak; Loving father of Michael (Sandi) Hornyak, Janie (John) Hochlinski, and the late Judith (husband C.R. survives) Hutchinson; Cherished grandfather of Michael Eric, Matthew, Molli, and Addi;
Preceded in death by his siblings Anna Popsack, Alberta Sabo, Albert and George Hornyak.
Mike was known as man of not many words but when he spoke his words were wise. He was a longtime member of the Homestead United Presbyterian Church, Sgt. in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and a retired carpenter for US Steel. He was a very talented woodworker and bricklayer. He had a passion for fishing, watching westerns and especially listening to his "polkas"! He was a man who loved spending time with his family, especially being surrounded by his grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 2 - 8 PM at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall 15120 (412-461-6394), where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 10 AM with Rev. Erwin Kerr officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in Homestead Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
