Michael (Mickey) Iannone; 89, passed away peacefully on August 17, at Jefferson Hospital. He built his multi-decade career as a brakeman on the railroad, where he left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.Born on January 31st in Pittsburgh, Mickey lived a full and thoughtful life marked by curiosity, devotion to family, and quiet joys. He was a loving father to two children, Dr. Donna L. Iannone and Michael Iannone III, two granddaughters, Olivia and Katherine Iannone, sister, Mildred Macosky, and a devoted partner to Marie O’Leary, with whom he shared 33 years of love, companionship, and laughter.
Mickey enjoyed NASCAR races and found great pleasure in the art of collecting, spending countless hours immersed in stamps and coins. He also cherished time spent watching and feeding birds, finding peace in their presence and delight in their songs. These quiet pastimes brought him both joy and connection throughout his life.He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steady wisdom, and the quiet strength he carried through life. His family, friends, and all who knew him will miss his presence deeply, but will carry his memory forward in love.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, August 21st from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, 3511 Main St., Munhall, with a celebration of his life and Blessing Service with Deacon Ron DemBlowski officiating, immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors foundation, the National Aviary, or an organization that you feel represents Mickey’s passions.
