Nancy A. (Hohman) Goempel

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Nancy A. (Hohman) Goempel on March 12, 2026, at age 89. Beloved mother of John, Jr. (d., Debbie) of Massachusetts, Alan, Patty (Russ) Gray, and Carole (Rick) Brletic. Grandmother to John Andrew, Garrett, Christine, Daniel, Benjamin and Sarah. Great Grandmother to Miloslav.

Nancy was born and raised in Greenfield in 1936. The youngest of five children, she was preceded in death by Earl, Joseph and Jack Hohman, and sister Dorothy Hartman. Nancy worked at Mercy Hospital for 20 years retiring from Social Services where her compassion and intelligence were gifts to her co-workers and the families she served.

In retirement Nancy enjoyed travelling, line dancing, tai chi, and holiday parties with friends. Her family and friends will remember her best for her wonderful laugh and inability to tell a joke without ruining it by stopping and laughing after each phrase, extraordinarily loving insights and acceptance of everyone she met. Anyone who felt misunderstood could turn to her for welcoming arms.

In remembrance of Nancy please tell a very good joke very badly, hug someone with all your heart, and be understanding at a moment that feels impossible.

Arrangements are private and entrusted to Green Funeral Home, Inc., in Munhall. There will be no visitations. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
