Nellie Louise Hawkins, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2023, in Riveria Beach, Florida. She was born on October 3, 1925, in Munhall, Pennsylvania. Nellie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be forever treasured by her family and friends.
Nellie, whose maiden name was McShane, was a devoted wife to her late husband William and a loving mother to her late son Robert. Throughout her life, Nellie valued the importance of family and cherished every moment spent with them. One of her fondest memories was spending quality time together, effortlessly bringing joy to those around her. She and Bill loved hosting family and friends. Her frequent laughter and great smile were a blessing to many.
In addition to her late husband and son Robert (Anne), Nellie is survived by her loving son Douglas (Robin) Hawkins and daughter Sandra Louise (Tom) Martin. She also leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her grandchildren: Ryan, Christine Suski, Tara Szlag, Michael Martin, Eric, Taylor, Jordan, Sarah Bond and Kate Matthew. Nellie's great-grandchildren are Macey Szlag, Callie, Crosby Szlag, Parker, Jude, Cooper Louise Suski, Wells Suski, Deacon Szlag, Hunter, Clinton, Baker, Banks Suski, Nellie Szlag, Joshua, Leona, and Carter. Nellie’s parents, James and Nellie McShane had 7 children: Marilyn, and Hugh (Suellen) and the late James Jr., Virginia, George (Mickey), Nellie Louise and twin sister Doris,
Nellie enjoyed doing home remodeling/ decorating projects herself (often until late at night), antiquing-junking as she referred to it, and collecting shells on the shore. As a longtime member of Homestead Park United Methodist Church, Nellie found strength in her faith and served as an inspiration to all who knew her.
Nellie Hawkins' memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and unwavering devotion to family and faith.
Family and Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 10:00 am till time of Funeral Service at 12:00 pm at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home Inc., 3511 Main St., Munhall, 15120, ((412)461-6394).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Homestead Park United Methodist Church, 4231 Shady Avenue, Munhall, PA 15120.
