Philip Ernest Enterline, PhD, died at age 92 in Stuart Florida. He was born in 1921 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. His parents were John Ernest Enterline and Charlotte Bates Enterline. Philip is survived by his wife, Jo-Anne Piatt Enterline, and Children: John, Janis E Baker, (Chris), Jeffery (Lori), Gayle E. Myers (Donald), Eric (Carol), Carla Enterline-Heger (Steven). He is also survived by (12) grandchildren: Allison Enterline; Michael and Alex Baker; Rush, John, Jillian and Grae Enterline; Ian Myers; Pamela and Nathan Enterline; Cameron and Evan Heger. He was predeceased by: Barbara E. Grim and Jane E. Suarez, his sisters. While in College, Philip was on the swimming team.  This was the prelude to a lifetime love of water, water sports, and boating.
Philip graduated from Westminster College in 1942 with a BBA in Economics and received a Masters degree in Statistics from American University in 1954. Philip also received a PhD from American University in Demography in 1960.  He was a Professorial Lecturer at American University 1960-1965. From 1965 – 1967 Philip was a Professor of Medical Statistics at McGill University. From 1976-1987 Philip held the following positions at the University of Pittsburgh: Chairman of Biostatistics, Director of Environmental Epidemiology and Member of the University Research Council.  In 1977 Philip was voted the Statistician of the Year in the US. From 1984-1994 while at the University of Pittsburgh Philip was a member and consultant for the following agencies: Asbestos Advisory Committee, US Navy; US EPA Risk Assessment Forum – Arsenic; Science Advisory Board , US Environmental Protection Agency; Mine Health Research Advisory Committee, NIOSH; Science Advisory Panel, Semiconductor Industry Assoc.; Board of Advisories, Southwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety; Harvard Advisory Committee on EMF and Human Health. Dr. Enterline published 146 papers and received multiple honors including the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving in the US Army Air force during WWII
