Raymond Michael Butko

Raymond Michael Butko, age 94 of west Mifflin, born September 3, 1929 in Homeville died February 18, 2024. He was the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Winters) Butko. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Laura (Marsh) Butko in 2015 and by his first wife, Janet Stetson. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Andrew, Francis and Edward and a sister Dorothy Dolney. He is survived by his daughter Cathy (Edward) Mihalek of Port Vue, a granddaughter Katie Bayuk of Leechburg, a grandson Daniel Bayuk of West Mifflin, and a great granddaughter Emery Rose Bayuk of West Mifflin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Homestead High School in 1949. He had a Masters Degree in Education from University of Pittsburgh and taught auto body repair at Schwab Vo Tech and the Steel Center Area Vocational Technical School. He was the owner of Butko Body Repair in West Mifflin since 1956 until 2022. He was a former school director at West Mifflin Area School district and the Steel Center AVTS. He was on the planning commission in West Mifflin for 20 years; a Democratic Committeeman in the 15th district; former member of the Democratic State Committee; former treasurer of the West Mifflin Democratic Committee. He enjoyed boating and flying. He had a boat at Fireman's Beach in Conneaut Lake and then at the Carousel Marina in Bunola. He had a pilot's license with an instrument rating. He owned a Piper Cherokee 140 airplane that he kept at the Allegheny County Airport and then at Rostraver Airport. He was a member of the Mifflin Club, Homeville Firehall #1 and was a past president of the Lions Club of West Mifflin. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 22, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM; and on Friday, February 23, from 11 AM-1 PM.
