Robert Michael Tomko (Bobby) was born on April 16, 1945 in Clairton, Pennsylvania. He passed away on August 15, 2023 at the Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Maryland.
He was a Vietnam Veteran (U.S. Army). He graduated at Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1971. He was a recipient of the Wall Street Journal Award, of which, only two are given to each state per year. He continued working for the government throughout his life as a Contracting Specialist. He was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He enjoyed nice restaurants, especially ones with homestyle cooking. Tillie’s Italian Restaurant in McKeesport was one of his favorites.
Bobby was a kind, thoughtful, and generous man. He will be missed greatly by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jo (Skinner) Tomko, his sister Rita (Tomko) Contini, brother Andrew Tomko, and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by the following persons: his father Joseph D. Tomko, Sr. and mother Anne T. Tomko (Rohaly); brothers Jerome Tomko, Joseph Tomko Jr., Regis Tomko, and nephew Parrish Benedict.
Funeral arrangements are private and entrusted to the George Irvin Green Funeral Home. Inc., Munhall. A private burial for Bobby will take place at a later date in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with Military Honors.
