Ronald Benko "Clyde", "Chief" passed away peacefully on September 22nd 2025.
Ronald was born on June 24, 1949 in Pittsburgh to John and Anne Benko. He was loved by his daughter Dana Popoleo, his granddaughters Amber Bakewell (Wade) & Carley Chedwick, his great grandson Jaelen Chedwick, his sister in-law Tammy DiNardo (Dean) & his close friend Kelly Emery as well as many others. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Ronald was a beloved fireman for many years, including 22 years of service as the fire chief at Homeville #1 station 293. He was extremely passionate when it came to firefighting. He was known for his leadership with Junior and fellow fireman, who were known as “Benko’s Boys” he will be remembered for his love and unwavering support as well as his signature phrase “Poor Ron”
Family and friends received on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 1 - 4 & 6 - 8pm at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall, 15120 (412-461-6394) where a Fireman Services will take place on Wednseday at 7:00PM. Blessing Service will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 10am at the Green Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., to help defray the funeral cost.
