Rudolph Phillips

Rudolph F. (Phil) Phillips, 88, of West Mifflin, died Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Beloved husband of Janet J. (Sabo) Phillips, dear father of Rev. Mark F. Phillips of Dearborn, MI and Matthew R. Phillips (Rebecca Cibulka) of Munhall. He is also survived by his sister, M. Michele Wittpenn (Howard Philips), nephew Devon M. Wittpenn (Susan Kallay), both of Munhall and great-nieces Stephanie J. Wittpenn of Pittsburgh; also extended family, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Anna Margaret “Peg” (Walick) Phillips and brother-in-law, Earle V. Wittpenn. Phil was born in Duck Hollow, Pittsburgh and graduated from Homestead High School in 1950. He proudly served in the US Army, attaining the rank of Corporal during the Korean War. He was employed for forty years at the Bettis Atomic Laboratory in West Mifflin, as a Supervisor in the Printing Department and also worked for the Valley Mirror. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and past Master of the formerly known, Trinity Lodge now Omni Lodge F&AM 582. He was also a devoted member and Chief Elder of the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead in Munhall. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM at George Irvin Green Funeral Home, 3511 Main Street, Munhall PA 15120 (412-461-6394). A Funeral Service will be held at the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Human Animal Rescue League.
