Susan Lorraine Wilson

November 12, 1954 — November 22, 2025

Susan Lorraine Wilson, 71, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia with her family by her side.

Born on November 12, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Susan was the daughter of George Harsha Wilson and Lorraine Jerda (Howden) Wilson, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up in Munhall in the Steel Valley area of Pittsburgh and carried with her a deep appreciation for community and connection that would shape her personal and professional life.

Susan pursued higher education with dedication and purpose. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania before continuing on to earn her Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. Her academic achievements reflected her lifelong commitment to understanding and supporting others. After her marriage to Richard in 1980 she began a career as a licensed clinical social worker, serving the communities of Chesapeake and Norfolk, Virginia. With her interest in travel, she later became a cruise agent with clients from the greater Norfolk-Virginia Beach area. She also found time between career and family to volunteer at school and neighborhood organizations.

Throughout her life, Susan found immense joy in spending time with her family. She was ever supportive of her sons’ school, social and sports activities, attending countless Little League, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and tennis games, orchestra and band performances and various school programs. She especially cherished traveling with her family — creating memories across cities, countryside and seascapes that became treasured stories shared around dinner tables and during quiet moments together.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Richard L. Klein of Norfolk, Virginia; her sister, Nancy J. Wilson of West Homestead, Pennsylvania; her son, Nathaniel W. Klein, her daughter-in-law Elizabeth L. Klein and her grandson James of Washington, D.C., her son Benjamin H. Klein of Denver, Colorado, her brother- and sister-in-law John Klein and Elizabeth Childs-Klein of St. Louis, Missouri, her sister-and brother-in-law Carol and Martin Bishop of Baltimore, Maryland, and her nephews and nieces Will, Ana, Juliet and Zachary.

Susan’s warmth and presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all whose lives she touched.

Family and friends recived for a celebration of her life will be held from 2 to 4 pm on December 22, 2025, at Green Funeral Home, 3511 Main Street, Munhall, PA, Susan’s hometown, where a memorial service will be held at 3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to ForKids Inc. in Chesapeake, Virginia, are suggested.
