On   September 22, 2014, Velma Williams of Munhall passed away peacefully at the age of 95.
Beloved wife of the late Corlis Williams she leaves behind her loving family: Jennifer (John) Yuhaschek; Anne (David Tauberg) Hawkins and the late Bob Hawkins.  She was the adored grandmother of Sarah (Cameron) Bond, Kate (Tyler) Matthew and Eric (fiancée Becky Nelson) Hawkins.  Proud great-grandmother of Lachlan Bond and Haydn and Oskar Matthew.  Sister of the late Elden Smith, Glen Smith, Edna Hull and Wilma Williams.  Survived by sisters Edith White and Martha Lee (Leo) Williams and many nieces and nephews.

Velma graduated from Mountain State College where she also taught for a number of years. She and Corlis were active members of the First Christian Church of Homestead and later the Homeville Christian Church. She was an avid reader and charter member of the Frigateers Book Club. She was also a skilled seamstress who made many prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses and both of her daughters' wedding gowns. Velma loved to cook, and there was always a pot of soup and a pan of biscuits or cornbread ready to share with anyone who stopped by. Her grape jelly and her peanut butter cookies were legendary, and she enjoyed sharing them with her neighbors. Her family and friends will always remember her kindness and her beautiful smile.

The family would like to thank the staff of Locust Grove Assisted Living and Vitas Hospice for their care and support.Celebrate a life well lived with her family from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014, at the George Irvin Green Funeral Home 3511 Main St., Munhall, PA . A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014, at Homeville Christian Church, 4702 Eliza St., West Mifflin, PA.  Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, 1 N. Linden St., Duquesne, PA 15110 or www.pittsburghfoodbank.org.
