William "Bill" Richard Bertan

William (Bill) Richard Bertan, 71, died in Pittsburgh on January 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 29, 1952, in Hays, PA. He went to Holy Angels Grade School (where he was an alter boy), Serra Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1972-76. He was the son of Nancy M. (Vanistendael) Bertan and the late Richard J. Bertan. Husband of Charlotte (Russman) Bertan. Father of Ashlee Bertan and Will Bertan, stepfather of Brandy Shields, Michael Shields (Jen) and the late Jason Russman. Grandfather of Kayla and Owen and step-grandfather of Conor and Cole. Survived by his siblings, Tom (Carol), Cindy (Bob), Michelle (Joe), Rich (Elda) and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and will be missed by all whom knew him.
