William Scott Wain

August 16, 1934 — April 24, 2024

Huntington, WV

William S. (Bill) Wain, age 89, went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2024 surrounded by family at home in Huntington, WV.

 He was born in Homestead, PA, son of the late Joseph Edward and Catharine Elizabeth Wain. 

 Beloved husband of Loretta Ann (Trautman) Wain for 70 years. 

 Loving father of Laura (Lynn) Clark of Canal Winchester, OH; David (Hay Wun) Wain of Basking Ridge, NJ; and Lydia Conley of Lorton, VA.

 Cherished grandfather of Brian (Demi) Clark, Heather (Nick) Mohler, Chris (Angie) Conley, Nicole (Jared), Ashley (Brett) Hoppe, and Catharine Wain. 

 Great grandfather to DeAsia, Maizie, Willa, Marcus, Hannah, Chloe, Jackson, and Gemma; great-great grandfather to Danica.

 Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Dr. John Charles (Susan) Wain, and siblings-in-law Lillian Wain, Bill & Laura Thompson, and Lee & Verna Lee Lyman. He loved his many nieces and nephews. 

 Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1963 and was employed at INCO/ Huntington Alloys; retiring in 1993. He also earned a Master’s degree in Adult Education from Marshall University, then taught mathematics in Marshall’s Community College. Bill studied his bible and loved the Lord. He taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon at several churches.

 In retirement, Bill worked as a security guard for Pinkerton and was a docent at Huntington Museum of Art. He and Loretta were campground hosts at Beech Fork State Park. They also enjoyed camping at Carter Caves and various campgrounds around the country. They eventually camped seasonally at Rivers Edge Campground in Ashton, WV. Dad especially loved being at camp. 

 Bill loved Big Band music and his favorite TV show was M*A*S*H. He enjoyed bike riding, boating, fishing, and being with family every year at the family's favorite body of water, Gloucester Pool in Ontario, Canada. His next favorite vacation spot was Aruba. Bill enjoyed special bonds with his pets over the years; especially Hydro, Duke, and Dutchess. 

 A visitation will be held at George Irvin Green Funeral Home in Munhall, PA (3511 Main Street, 15120, (412)461-6394) on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 6:00 - 8:00 pm, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Burial, and a subsequent repast, is to follow.
