Elizabeth 'Betsy' Ann (Buran) Busche of Munhall was called home to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the age of 59 after battling pancreatic cancer. Beloved wife of Theodore 'Ted' Busche for 33 years, she is survived by her daughter Ariel, was preceded in death by her son Ian, and is also survived by her mother Eleanor (Smith) Buran and father Paul Buran, and sister, Bentley [Ellyn] Buran. Betsy will be dearly missed by her six cats Annie, Kevin, Weebles, Inchie, Yoda, and Minnie and has now been reunited with the dozens of pets that she has held dear to her heart throughout her lifetime.

A graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School in 1979 and Duff's Business Institute in 1986, Betsy worked as a phlebotomist for UPMC Shadyside Family Health Center, and later UPMC General Internal Medicine-South for a combined 28 years. Betsy calmed the fears of babies and adults alike with her sarcastic and empathetic sense of humor, and was truly loved by every patient who had the joy of working with her.

Betsy was well known as a cat whisperer, but would talk about her love of animals of all types to anyone that would listen. She also enjoyed gardening, true crime mysteries, and family vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey and Raystown Lake. She will forever be remembered for her sincerity shrouded in sass, her contagious laughter, and her love of a good Texas Roadhouse steak.

Family and friends will be invited in a year's time to a Celebration of Life for Betsy.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Betsy's name to the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.
