George Ray Miller on March 12, 2020, age 89, of Munhall, PA.
Beloved husband of Rosemary Shannon-Miller, loving father of JoAnn Sloan, Tammy Miller, John Demeo, and special adopted daughter Kelly Mangan.
Adoring grandfather of Amy (Mark) Sloan, Holly (Paul) Sloan, Megan (Doug) Nemcik, Corey (Kayla) Edwards, Carrington (Traymayne) Edwards, Joshua (Courtney) Edwards, Alysssa Gable, Madelyn Gable, Alexander Gable, Heather Scatena and Mindy Demeo; and great-grandfather of Emily, Dylan, Danielle, Austin, Kylee, and Mya.
Special uncle to Danny (Beth) Thomas and Cindy Brienza and many other nieces and nephews.
Ray was a wonderful husband and beloved family man. Originally from Connellsville, Ray worked at Homestead US Steel Works for over 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, traveling, and his cabin in St. Mary’s West Virginia.
Ray was known for his generosity, his quick wit, and his infectious laughter.
Everyone who loved Ray spoke of his delicious “Ray Miller” breakfasts, his knack for fixing anything, and his vibrato-filled whistle to which even the birds would respond. Ray always enjoyed growing tomatoes, watching Westerns and Judge Judy, and he savored his ability to nap just about anywhere.
Ray’s presence enhanced the lives of his family and friends whether through his guidance and advice or his timeless wisdom. His grandchildren have referred to him as “the glue that held everyone together”.
The joy in Ray’s passing is that he maintained his spit-fire spirit until his final day. We know that he is able to move freely and pain-free, and he is reunited with all of the loved ones who have gone before him.
“His life a beautiful memory, his absence a silent grief”
