Lucille "Lu" (Falce) Sarraino of Hays, passed away peacefully at home, with her family at her side, six days prior to her 99th birthday.  Lu was the matriarch of her family.  She was affectionately known as “Little Mummum'' for her petite stature and soft spoken, gentle ways.  She was the ultimate caregiver and her family always came first.  She loved reading, especially romance novels, loved babies and children and cooking was her passion.  She relished in cooking for her family.  She wanted to feed everyone, it was her way of giving her heart, taking care of you, symbolizing her love - and the more you ate and enjoyed it was your way of reciprocating your affection for her.  Lu was known for her traditional Italian dishes, cookies and baked goods, and especially making dozens of pastids (Easter pies) that were given and sent to family and friends across the country.  She even baked cookies for a stray squirrel, who she fed for years, that she appropriately named Cookie.  She was a staple in her hometown of Hays, working at the election polls at Holy Angels Parish for decades.  She was also a lifelong member of the ISDA.  Everyone that met her instantly took to her for her sincerity, she had a way of making everyone feel like family and was loved by so many.  She was the daughter of Nicholas Falce and Grace (O'Dato) Falce of Hays.  She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.  Beloved wife of the late John D. Sarraino.  Adored and devoted mother to Ted (Linda) Sarraino, John (Georgette) Sarraino and Angela Swisher.  Treasured grandmother of Lori (Andrew) Sakmar, Jon (Lisa) Sarraino, Scott (Carrie) Swisher, Michael (Carrie) Sarraino, LuAnn Caryl and T.J. Sarraino.  She is also survived by 13 cherished great grandchildren and a favorite aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are entrusted to the George Irvin Green Funeral Home, Inc., 3511 Main Street, Munhall 15120 (412-461-6394). Please share your memories and condolences at georgeigreenfuneralhome.com.
